How does the Comfort Queen Application process work?

Comfort Queen staff are selected in Woman Within South Central USA by a collaboration of the Comfort Queen Coordinator, the Comfort Queen Lead for the Weekend you are applying to staff and the Board of Directors.

  • All are welcome to staff as a Comfort Queen. The only prerequisite is being a woman 18 years or older.
  • You can come for all or part of the weekend. While we prefer you to come for the whole Weekend, that may not work with your plans. Please choose the shifts that work best for you.
  • The Comfort Queen Weekend begins Thursday at 1pm and runs through Sunday around 4pm. Again, you may choose to work all or part of the Weekend.
  • There is no fee to staff as a Comfort Queen.
  • This is a vital and sacred role on the South Central Weekends. Our Woman Within Weekends are not possible without the support of the Comfort Queen Team.

What are the requirements to staff as a Comfort Queen?

To staff as a Comfort Queen, you must:

  • be in good financial standing with Woman Within International and all Woman Within Regions.
  • complete and submit a Comfort Queens application.
  • be a woman and 18 years or older.
  • want to contribute your time and energy in a powerful way. No cooking experience is necessary.

  • Comfort Queen Team: Work to support and nurture the staff and participants through service in the preparation and serving of food on the weekend. (Note, there is NO participation in the Woman Within Weekend in this role.)

  • *Woman Within South Central USA offers a vegetarian option for each weekend. You will receive a copy of the menu before the Weekend to aid you in decisions around supplementing with your own food. If you have additional dietary restrictions or needs, please be prepared to supply your own food. Refrigerators will be available for your use.
  • List any physical limitations that may prevent you from CQ tasks and duties (bad back, injuries, standing for long periods of time, etc.
